Residential Treatment for Women in BC

Since 2002, Hannah House has been providing a safe and nurturing drug and alcohol treatment program that encompasses the Twelve Step philosophy. Our program is abstinence based and our goal is to teach women the tools they need to live clean and sober lives.  The staff at Hannah House have extensive working knowledge of the particular barriers that many women face while they overcome their addiction to drugs and alcohol. We focus on maintaining a supportive community where women can feel safe and supported while they recover.

  • Medical support sessions with our addiction physicians
  • Opiate Agonist Therapies permitted
  • Female-only staff

  • Meditation, Healing Circle, and Exercise area
  • Self-referral
  • Access to educational and employment opportunities
  • Smoking allowed

Treatment Objectives

  • Introduction and utilization of the Twelve Step Model of Recovery
  • Recognition and acceptance of alcoholism and/or addiction
  • Development of coping mechanisms (relapse prevention)
  • Realization and maintenance of a clean and sober lifestyle
  • Formation of employment and educational goals
  • Establishment of a support network conducive to a successful recovery

Hannah House uses a 60-day minimum treatment model that gives women the opportunity to learn the Twelve Step philosophy of recovery and implement it in their lives. Our staff know what it takes to overcome the devastating effects of addiction, and we focus on providing a supportive community where women can feel safe and supported while they recover and start their lives over. We value the importance of honouring each individual client’s needs, and our staff work with each client to ensure they are receiving the supports that they need. We have access to private second-stage housing that is designed to provide structure and safety after the 60-day treatment program at Hannah House. We strive to provide the best care, shelter, and treatment for women. We believe that there is hope for women struggling with alcoholism and addiction, and at Hannah House, miracles do happen.
