I was born in 1953 in Richmond, B.C. I am the oldest of 5 children, 3 brothers and 1 sister, and am very close to my mother and family. One brother and father are deceased.
After finishing high school in Richmond, I started experimenting with hard drugs. Within 2 years I was addicted to heroin. During the next 20 years, I achieved some success as a commercial fisherman and heavy equipment operator, but any success was negated by my ongoing addiction problems. I had numerous sentences of incarceration and many separations with my high school sweetheart and wife, Linda.
In January of 1992, I hit rock bottom and entered a residential treatment program. The last 13 years of life have been very positive. I have had training as a substance abuse counsellor and life skills coach, and have worked for the last 12 years in the substance abuse field.
I now live happily with Linda and have 3 beautiful children, Caitie 22, Jimmy 17, and Danny 11. I have a passion for work and enjoy golf and racquetball.
