I was born in Toronto and raised by my mother and grandmother (my parents divorced when I was three). Both my father and mother were alcoholics.
I first got drunk at the age of twelve. First drug used at thirteen was Marijuana. I was injecting drugs at fifteen. Thereafter was a cycle of jails, detoxes, hospitals and misery for 28 years.
My last day of drug use was October 11, 1994. I went to detox and from there to InnerVisions.
Today, I work at InnerVisions three and a half days a week and do volunteer work with Aids Vancouver, British Columbia, Persons with Aids Society, as well as some work with the New Westminster Health Department. I'm in a wonderful relationship and am a productive member of society.
I've been educated as a peer and support counsellor, a co-facilitator trainer, and at the Justice Institute of B.C. in dealing with Interpersonal Conflict.
